2013 Outdoor Season

• May 4 - Bloomfield Developmental Meet 3, Bloomfield High School, 5 Huckleberry Lane, Bloomfield, CT
  This is a good meet to start in.  Usually about 12 or 13 teams.  Separate division for 2007 & 2008 birth years. Great chance for us to see where each athlete is before the Bloomfield Invitational in two weeks. [Meet info]
  
  
• May 18 - 7th Annual Bloomfield Youth Invitational, Bloomfield High School, 5 Huckleberry Lane, Bloomfield, CT
  This is a small level championship meet. Last year about 16 teams. Team scores for both boys and girls division. We need to make amends for last year when our girls placed 5th overall and our boys finished in the lower half of the standings. The Jets have 14 meet records at this meet. • June 15 - AAU New England District Qualifier, Thayer Academy, Braintree. We host this meet every year and will be asking you to help make it a success. Somewhat small so our athletes go home with a lot of medals.  First step toward the AAU Jr. Olympics at the end of the season. We expect everybody even if you have no plans to go to the AAU JO’s.
  
  
• June 22 - USATF NE Junior Olympics, Fitchburg, MA This is the biggest meet of the year up to this point on the best track up to this point. Over 30 New England teams. No athletes born after 2006.  We won the third most gold medals of all teams last year. Leads to the USATF JO’s, which we will not go to as a team. Top 8 in each age group qualify for National Qualifier on July 5-7. [Meet info]
  
  
• June 28-30 - AAU National Junior Olympics Qualifier, North Shore High School, Glen Head, NY
  Teams from NE, NY and New Jersey. Kids love these out of town, multiple day meets. Must have finished in top 16 at the AAU NE District meet (that would be everybody). Top 5 in each (single year) age group at this meet qualify for the AAU Jr. Olympics in Michigan. You are urged to attend even if you’re not going to go to the JO’s.  2011 we had 12 kids at this meet. 2012 we had slightly less.  We host this meet in 2014 so we need a strong showing this year. Brand new track about 25 minutes west of the Throgs Neck Bridge in Eastern Long Island.  [Meet info]
  
  
• July 5-7 - USATF Region 1Junior Olympics Championships (National JO Qualifier),  Icahn Stadium, New York City NY
  Teams from Maine through NY. Must have qualified for this by finishing in the top 8 at the USATF NE JO meet. Top 5 at this meet qualify for the USATF National JO’s which we do not plan to go to as a team.  Professional quality stadium. Multis on Friday, 8 & Under – 13-14 on Saturday, 15-16 & 17-18 on Sunday.
  
  
• July 12-13 - Needham Youth Classic, DeFazio Track - 340 Dedham Ave. - Needham MA.
  Needham Youth Classic. DeFazio Field, Needham, MA.  Two year age groups based on age as of July 12. Lots of ribbons, medals and trophies.  Friday starts at 4:00 and Saturday goes until about 4:30.  Good place to try out field events. Separate age groups for 5&6 year olds. We’ve won quite a few Athlete of the Meet titles over the years. For many this will be the last meet of the season. [Meet info].
  
  
• July 27- Needham All-Star Meet, DeFazio Track - 340 Dedham Ave. - Needham MA.
  Nice small, quick, informal Wednesday evening meet for all ability levels. Good final tune up for those going to AAU JO’s.  Two year age groups based on age on day of meet. [Meet info].
  
  
• July 22-28 -  USATF National Junior Olympics,  North Carolina A&T University – Greensboro, NC
  We are not planning to go as a team this year but you are more than welcome to go and represent the Jets if you qualify. Last year 5 kids went and came home with 2 medals. [meet info].
  
  
• July 29-Aug 4 - AAU National Junior Olympics, Detroit MI  This is the goal. Must be top 5 at AAU National Qualifier. Over 12,000 kids from around the country make this the largest track meet in the world. See and compete with most of the best in the country. The last two times the Jets went, 2010 (8 kids) & 2011 (6 kids), we came away with one 5th place medal, two 4th place medals, one bronze, two silver and one gold.  Simply put, if your child qualifies, you should go.
