2012 Meet Schedule

2012 Outdoor Season
- Bloomfield Developmental Meet #3, Saturday, May 5 - Bloomfield, CT
Good meet to start the outdoor season. Fairly small but nice range of competition throughout. Helpful to run this meet before the slightly larger Bloomfield Invitational to get a feel for the track. Events from Pee Wee (born 2006 &2007) through Intermediate (1996 & 1997) in two year age groups. [Meet info]
- 6th Annual Bloomfield Youth Invitational -Saturday, May 19th, - Bloomfield, CT
Usually 8 – 10 teams. A good chance to see where each athlete is early in the season. Jets girls finished 3rd in team scoring last year and our boys finished 6th. We would like to improve on those results this year and need full participation in order to do so. Same age groups as 5/5 meet. Last year our athletes set 9 meet records and Jets hold 17 meet records overall.

- AAU District Championships - Saturday June 16, - Thayer Academy, Braintree MA. Hosted by Cambridge Jets.
Top 16 finishers advance to AAU National Qualifier (6/29 in CT).
This is OUR outdoor meet. Open for Primary ( 2004 or before) through Youth (1998) in single year age groups as well as Intermediate (1996 & 1997) and Young Women/Men (1994 & 1995). This attracts other Massachusetts teams and a couple of others. We usually come home with the lion’s share of the medals at this meet and this year should be no exception. Though smaller than our indoor meet, we need help from families for the meet run smoothly. Last year’s Jets won 46 gold 23 silver and 8 bronze medals at this meet. [Meet Info]
- USATF NE Junior Olympics - June 23, Fitchburg, MA.
Top 5 finishers advance to USATF Regional JO (7/7, NY)
All of the Mass teams along with teams from the other New England states except for Connecticut. Two year age groups from Sub-Bantam ( 2004 or before - different name but the same as AAU’s Primary age group) through Young Women/Men (1994 & 1995). Very good range of competition for all. Last year’s Jets won 18 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze medals. The top 5 in each event at this meet are eligible to compete in the USATF Region 1 Championships in July in Long Island, NY. [Meet Info]
- AAU National Qualifier - June 28-July 1, Veteran's Memorial Stadium,
New Britain, CT
Top 5 finishers advanceto AAU National JO( 7/30 in TX)
Have to run in the 6/16 meet (and finish in the top 16) in order to qualify for this meet. Usually a very big meet with competitors from Maine through New Jersey. Single year age groups as in the 6/16 meet above. Last year’s meet was in New Jersey and we had 12 athletes and won 8 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medal. The top 5 finishers in each event qualify for the AAU National Jr. Olympics in Houston although we do not plan to go as a team to that meet. [Meet Info]
-
USATF Regional Junior Olympics - July 6-8, Long Island, NY -
Top 5 finishers advance to USATF National JO (7/24 in MD)
This meet is the qualifier for the USATF National Jr. Olympics in Baltimore in July. Athletes from all six NE states along with NY (Upstate, Metro and Long Island) all compete here. This will be much larger than the past few USATF Region 1’s as it leads to the nationals here on the east coast. Two year age groups as at the 6/23 meet. Multi-events (Triathlon, Pentathlon, Heptathlon, Decathlon) compete on Friday. Last year’s Jets won 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal in Troy, NY. Top 5 individuals and top 3 relays qualify for Baltimore.
- Needham Youth Classic - July 20-21-
DeFazio Track, Needham MA
This large meet is a good one to wrap up the season for most of our athletes. There are many events that other meets do not have – a good chance to try out field events for some of our less experienced athletes. Lots of medals and ribbons and even trophies. Last year only six Jets competed and two were awarded athlete of the meet. Age groups are two year groupings determined by age on meet day. [Meet Info]
- USATF National Junior Olympics - July 24-29 - Hughes Stadium, Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD
This will be the culmination of the season for some of our elite athletes. To qualify, athletes had to have finished in the top 5 of individual events at the USATF Region 1 meet or in the top 2 of multi-events. All qualifiers are encouraged to attend this meet and represent the Cambridge Jets on the national stage .[Meet Info]
- AAU National Junior Olympics - July 30-August 4, Huston, TX. [Meet Info]
